Hard Drive Recovery & Repair

The team at R3 really know their onions and after speaking to them you feel like your data is in safe hands! I’ve only used them a couple of times and fingers crossed won’t need to for a while but there is no doubt where my next broken hard drive will be going! (Ronnie Garrod - Abix Technology)

After being told that my external hard-drive was beyond repair by another computer repair company, I approached R3 Data Recovery to help. I was quite expensive, but the data I wished to recover was priceless. Quick and efficient service and very grateful the data could be recovered. (Adam)

We had hard drives with data that needed recovery. There are many data companies out there, what I can say, is having tried various ‘others’ over the years, we would only use R3 Data Recovery Ltd. When others have failed to recover anything, R3 Data found everything we needed and ensured it was recoverable. In these matters, it’s not about the price. Professional Quality Counts. (SQUADRA Pro Cycling Ltd)

The commitment of R3 Data Solutions is second to none. Engineers were available seemingly around the clock and most importantly, they recovered the data that I needed. I would not hesitate to recommend them. (Geoff Payne - London)

We had a very unfortunate accident, where our main server was knocked over and our hard drive was damaged. Our software maintenance engineers were unable to help us. Fortunately the R3 Data Recovery came to the rescue and worked tirelessly over the weekend to get us up and running they kept us informed all the way through the process and were always available on the phone. They were very professional and efficient and I would highly recommend them to anybody. (Shahram Mirtorabi - Hindley Dental Practice)

How Do Hard Drives Lose Data?

Generally, there are four answers to this question, and these are listed below. Take note that each of these problems can only occur in different situations. This is because the average hard drive is designed against data corruption/loss. In fact, most types of hard drives are resistant to data damage, and so all kinds of problems can easily be avoided given the right precautions. So in order to protect your hard drive from data damage or corruption, it's important to examine exactly what causes data loss in the first place.

Logical Failure
In this situation, the hard drive and its various physical components do not actually suffer any physical damage. Instead, some of the data in the hard disk become inaccessible, either because an error has occurred or because a computer virus was introduced into the system. In certain cases, accidental reformatting, lost partition as well as corrupted files can also cause logical failure.
Mechanical Failure
When a mechanical failure occurs, it's usually because of a component failure, like a head crash or a motor stoppage. When this happens, some or all of the data in your hard drive will become inaccessible.
Electronics Failure
An Electronic Failure only happens when the hard drive's components fail or when the hard drive is supplied with the wrong voltage. This usually happens when something goes wrong in your electrical system or when power fluctuations happen nearby.
Media Degradation
Media Degradation usually occurs when the hard disk starts developing too many bad sectors, or it's no longer possible to read the platters. It's worth mentioning that Media Degradation can result from any number of things, including interference from viruses to physical damage due to mishandling. If your suspect that your hard drive is having such problems then it's important that you consult a professional to deal with it.

Data loss can occur for a whole host of reasons that include but are not limited to the following:

  • Power surges or outages.
  • Accidental reformatting or overwriting.
  • Interference from malware or viruses.
  • Physical damage caused by exposure to fire, water, extremes in temperature or mishandling.

Regardless of what caused the problem behind your hard drive's data loss, our services can provide you with the necessary disk recovery services that will restore it. Our engineers operate in certified labs and use only the latest tools and techniques to rectify the source of your hard drive's problem. We will recover whatever possible data can be salvaged from your damaged hard drive and get it back to working condition.

In situations where your hard drive's problem is the result of a Logical Failure, our data recovery software and equipment will allow our technicians to easily bypass any bad sectors which prevent access to your hard drive's data, "forcing" your hard drive to read the data, despite the errors.

If you're having Mechanical Failures then our technicians will simply examine your hard drives in our facilities to identify the source of the component fault. Once the problem has been ascertained, the damaged component will either be repaired or replaced after all the salvageable data has been copied and restored.

It's important that you don't try to perform hard drive recovery and restoration on your own. Even if you have some knowledge on the subject, hard drive recovery is a process that requires the right experience and the right tools. Tampering with a damaged hard drive will only make the problem worse and cause further damage to your hard drive.
